FAQ

Q: I registered my child, but why haven't I heard anything?
A:
Immediately after the last registration date, your Region Board begins the process of putting the teams together for the upcoming season.
When this is completed, the number of teams will be determined, the coaches will be notified and then the players will be contacted by their coaches.

Q: When do coaches get their team assignments?
A:
To determine the number of teams, we need to have coaches complete the registration and certification process, which is reviewed and verified locally.  Not all divisions form at the same time. The very young teams, in particular, tend to be notified the week before the season starts, due to the large number of new coaches required, especially in the Fall.

Q:
When do players get notified about team placements?
A:
The coaches will contact the parents usually the week before the season starts.  They will give you all the information you will need in regards to practice times and location.

Q: What does my child need to play in Ossining AYSO?
A:
You will need to obtain equipment, including shin guards (mandatory), plastic cleats (optional but encouraged) and water bottle for your child. Uniforms (jerseys, shorts and socks)  will be provided at the first week of practice.  The registration fee includes national dues, soccer supplemental accident insurance, game scheduling, and training costs for volunteers.

Q: I changed my mind. Can I get a refund?
A:
Please email us as soon as practical regarding a withdrawals we can discuss options.

Q: How often are practices and games?
A:
It depends on the division and age level.  U5, U6, U7: Saturday only program  U8+: Weekly practice, Sunday game.

Q: How much does each program cost?
A: With our integrated website and registration portal, create an account and you can find out easily by logging in. Our programs are affordably priced. The cost will vary based on the time of registration (early bird, regular, late) and the number of seasons you are registering for. Full registration scholarships for the Core program are available via email inquiry (no questions asked). Multi-child discounts (4th+ child is free!) and early registration discounts may be available, depending on the program. An annual AYSO membership fee applies and will be added to your cart when you register for the first program of the membership year (school year).

Q: What do  I need to do to register my child for AYSO?
A: Create an account and  you will be presented with the programming options for your child's date of birth. Core is our most popular program so register for that for the traditional soccer program.  Assuming you have a credit card, you can pay online as well. The entire registration and payment process can be completed online from the comfort of your home or business. Hundreds of families use the online registration process each year. Most players participate in both the Fall and Spring Core program. A cash/check payment option exists if needed.

A: You buy it on your own at any retailer.

Q: What are these divisions all about? What division would my child be in?
A: When you log in, the system will select the appropriate divisions and programs based on your child's date of birth. Children are grouped by birth year to ensure they are playing in an environment suitable for their physical and emotional abilities, and to provide them with the opportunity to play with or against their friends.

Q: I might be interested in volunteering, how does that work?
Volunteering is fun and easy. You will get more out of it than you put into it!

Please email us immediately at [email protected] if you can spare any amount of time. Any training required is provided free of charge. We can always use your help. We need coaches, assistant coaches, division coordinators, team parents, and board members. For a description of each role, review the volunteer information on our website or the national AYSO website. AYSO is an all-volunteer program.
